Some observations.
Wages of L1 people:
I know some L1 visa holders. They are very well off here in the US. They also get paid for overtime/weekend work. They own SUVs/cars and one of them is about to close a deal on a house. It is possible that some/many L1 holders get low wages, but it's certainly not the case with everyone.
L1 Taxes: I don't know what they pay or if they pay at all.
Just the fact the some anti-immigration group says they do not pay taxes does not mean it is true. But it is possible.
Everyone has their own agenda. Anti-immigration groups want to prevent their jobs from being given to foreigners. In the process they are likely to tell a few lies or exaggerate. Likewise some Indians are propagating the myth/lie that US politicians are trying to reduce the H1 limit from 200,000/year to under 100,000/year. The FACT is that the limit was 65,000/year till 1998. It was TEMPORARILY increased (in steps) and WAS SCHEDULED to fall back to 65,000/year in 2003. So it will fall down to 65,000/year this year regardless of any amendment. If they are trying to abolish H1, that's a different matter. But it is their country, Americans can do what they wish.
