I currently live in MD. Because of my new job , i am thinking about to move to VA. My green card anniversary will be in May 27th. I have couple questions regarding this..

1) I know that before you apply for N-400 , you should be resident for that state certain amount of time ? How long i should be the resident lets say for VA before i start N-400 process ?

2) I am so undecided to move. I will make my decision based on which state process the applications faster. Do you guys have any idea is MD or in VA N-400 Process takes shorter?

3) I took my gc throught 2004 lottery so i believe my case is not really complicated and extra ordinary. Do you think it will take really long ?

Thanks

The requirement is to be a resident of the area serviced by your USCIS field office for at least 3 months before you can apply.

It depends where you move since VA is serviced by multiple field offices.

Depends on what your definition of long is. Most recent applications are being processed between 4-8 months now. If you get stuck in name check it could add a few months to the process.

I think you should carefully search through this and other forums about the processing times for n400 to get a good idea.

Since I applied in MD and my office was baltimore I am little biased. For me it took about 110 days from priority date to naturalization which is pretty good. Check out the balitmore thread in this forum.

As far as complexity of the case there is probably no way to know except if you can find a member of this forum with similar case.
