I lost my job a year ago and started to work for a company in Singarpore about seven months ago . I am now thinking to apply for the US citizenship as I have already had my permanent residence for 5 years and stayed most of the time in the US. What should I do now? Working outside the US without an approved N-470 breaks your continuous residency requirement for naturalization. You need to be living in the US during the process and re-establish continuous residency before you can apply.
 
You almost surely won't get approved for citizenship, as you have stayed outside the US for more than 6 months and worked abroad for a non-US company.
