Should I fire my lawyer?

I am one month into my Employment RFE. I was unemployed when got it. Now I get a full-time job. The lawyers hired by my ex-company says they need my ex-company to release my file to them such that they can represent me. However, my ex-company went under and the CEO is no where to be found. Should I fire my current lawyers and find new ones to represent me? If so, can anyone suggest a good lawyer in Silicon Valley?

But..

your real problem seems to be the ex-company and not the lawyer, right? Normally the files are with the lawyer and they just consult with the company at each step.

But strangely here for some reason, your ex-company seems to keep your filing records.

So if you approach another lawyer, wont you face the same problem? I am just wondering

Though the law allows for transfer of case files from current lawyer to new lawyer, it is all about money, baby.

I believe your current lawyer has the right to ask for some compensation through your new lawyer.

You have 2 options - first ask your current lawyer from whom in your old fired up company he needs an approval to release your case papers. and then tell them that person is no longer with company, if that is the case to be. So disarm him from his needs.

Second, ask him what will it take for him to continue as your lawyer - get his price. That price you need to compare with you new lawyer.

If new laywer is asking much less money from you, then ask for how much your current lawyer can transfer the file to another lawyer.

Firing is not a solution.

Good luck to you, your current lawyer, a new lawyer if you hire one and last but not least your fired up CEO.
 
I showed the Secretary of State record saying my ex-company is suspended to my Fragomen lawyer. Then they says they are now ok to continue my case without the company releasing my files. I need to pay $500 to retain their service.
