Should I file for 7th year H1B extension?

Hi, gurus
My six-year H1B is expiring in a about 2 months. I have filed I-485 with an approved I-140 since September with CSC. In addition, my wife just won DV-2003 lottery, and we are expecting to have our CP interviews sometime between February and April next year.
Now my lawyer wants me to file for 7th year H1B to be "on the safe side." Do you think I shoud do it? My company is very small and struggling, and I don't have unlimited resources to spend on all these immigration matters.

Being out of ststus for more than 6 months invites 3 yr/10 yr ban. Winning the lottery is one thing, getting the actual GC might not happen immediately.
However, if you receive the 485 receipt before h1 expiry, your status is preserved.
If you get EAD , then you can use EAD to work (until then, if H1 is expired, you cannot work).
Weigh all these and make your decision.
