Should I be alarmed?

I know there are a lot of people who have been stuck in the name check process for years. And my case is relatively new. But I am still getting panicked. My fingerprint was done May 18th and there were 2 updates afterwards. Then for a month there were no any updates. I called TSC yesterday and was told that the security clearance was still pending. I understand that if you are not stuck, it only takes a matter of days to clear that. So is this a bad news for me? Thanks for any thoughts and inputs.

Sure. I just added signature to my post. It is interesting that we have couple of key dates that are exactly the same.

I tried the trick listed in one of the name check related threads. I think it is the same 1800 number for anybody. You just need to choose the right options. But from my understanding, this trick is only specific for TSC. I will try to find that post and paste it here.

Not nesessarily few days; fir my daughter it took 6 months.

thank you compass for the info. I have noticed that it took a long time for you to clear the security check. Did you do anything to speed it up? Please share your experience. Although it is a little bit premature for me, I think I should get prepared for it should this unfortunate scenario happen. My name is just way too common among Chinese. :mad:

Yes I did; in short I
1) found out I am stuck since oct 2003;
2) sent FOIPA and got 'no-record' response;
3) contacted senators (2) and congressman;
4) once in a while asked on my status making infopass to local office;
5) called UCIS requesting status info;
6) pointed out to the congressman that my kid is aging out (turning 21 in less than 6 months) - maybe, this helped..
All details are in my former posts.
