The Consulate General of India, San Francisco will accept direct OCI/PIO/Renunciation applications only upto February 11, 2011. Any such application received after February 11, 2011 directly in the Consulate will be returned unprocessed at the cost of the applicant. Applicants can apply for such services again from March 8, 2011 at Travisa Outsourcing. Please check Travisa website for more details.

and the travisa website says:

The service you have requested is still being handled by the Indian Consulate for your jurisdiction: San Francisco. All inquiries regarding this service should be directed to your local Consulate.

Am about to apply in the next few days, say by 2/9. Do you think this will work? Or should I just get the surrender certificate done in CGISF before sending the OCI to travisa?

Let me know if you guys have any better idea?
