Several I-131 questions

All,
It's been over one year since I last applied I-131. I went to USCIS website and noticed some changes. Questions:

1. Is it true that a LPR (as a result of asylee) can NOT apply I-131 online anymore? See the URL below
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/us...nnel=9059d9808bcbd010VgnVCM100000d1f1d6a1RCRD

Under "Who Is Not Eligible to e-File this Form", see last bullet point. Is this true?

2. It looks like they require biometric now for I-131 (Additional 80 bucks). Does that mean we no longer need to send two photographs? Or are the photographs still required?

3. Lastly, I checked the processing times for Nebraska, it said that I-131 for RTD waiting time is now 3 months (under Processing Timeframe column). Is this accurate?

Anyone who filed I-131 recently... please share your insights.

regards,
jasonb

Filed Aug. 08 - received it Nov. 08 (3 months)

so,no photos need to be sent with application

someone2007,
Did you file online or manual? And are you an LPR that is an ex-asylee?

i filed by mail , its easy, just filled out the two pages form and mailed it out with regular mail and after few days I got the receipt from USCIS and the biometric date ..

and no I am not LPR yet, I am still an Asylee ..

My I-131 application was received in Nebraska on Dec 15th, RTD issued on Jan 21st. Add about a week on each side for mail processing, all in all it only took about 2 months! Very quick.

You can fill out your application online, but you can't file it online, you have to print it out and mail with the rest of the stuff. You need 2 photographs, check or money order for application PLUS biometrics, copy of your drivers license (or other acceptable, government-issued photo ID), copy of your GC (or I-94 showing your status), your old RTD or RP if you still have it. And your completed application, of course :) I think that's it, but check the instructions before you send it.

Once they receive your application, they will send you two separate notices - one saying that they received your application, and the other one with the time and date of your biometric appointment. My appointment was on Jan 6th, so about 3 weeks after they received the application. You need to take this appointment notice with you to your local Application Support Center (you'll see the address on the notice). They'll fingerprint you, and you are done - just relax and wait for your document

hi coolmint, did you request to expedite or just normal processing time is reduced now ? Was it RTD or RP ?

Thanks all for responding. The USCIS clearly has not allowed LPR to apply or file I-131 online anymore. That used to be allowed before. Just curious, why didn't they allow us to file online? I'd think that would be more efficient.

On the other hand, I am glad to know that they have seemed to improve the processing speed. So the 3-month timeframe they advertised on the website is quite accurate. Correct?

Nope it was not a expedite request just a normal processing. I was amazed to see it when I opened my mail box, as I was expecting 2-3 months to receive it based on time frame mentioned by uscis. It was RTD and I hope you will get yours soon. Best of luck !!!
