Yes, you can always travel on H-1B so long as you have a valid H-1B and your GC is not approved. Don\'t even mention to the immigration officers @ airport about your GC and AP.

Although I am not sure about getting AP from INS directly, I guess it won\'t be possible. Others who have similar experiences can reply.

Local INS office

can issue AP in 3 days i believe . Check out this option . I think i have read some posters saying that it is possible .
