Forgive that am new to the forum, but your response will be appreciated.
I 've been a LPR for over 5yrs. My application I-131 Application for Refugee Travel document was received on March 24 and biometrics scheduled for April 28 at Baltimore ASC. Now that I have the money available, I sent my N400 on april 18 and it was receive on April 19. Since I already have a biometric date on the 28th of April for I-131, can I manage to be fingerprinted for my N400 as well or will I be schedule seperately at a later date for another biometric? Can biometric from the 28th be reuse? does have these two application affects my processing time?
Thanks

The I-131 does not require your A-file which is good because your N-400 does. They won't interfere with each other.

If an RTD is your only travel document and you need to travel, it was probably unavoidable to file them both. If you paid 2 biometric fees then you will get two appt. notices. Their systems are linked by the application ID and not by your A# although the results for both can be retrieved by A# if done manually. The application processing is automated once the results are obtained and matched automatically by the application IDs. The applications are processed in different locations by different people that don't usually know about the other application. Just do what they ask and things will work out OK.

Bring both biometric notices to the first appointment, and they probably will allow you to do both in the same visit. But they won't just reuse one set of prints; you'll have to go through the fingerprinting process twice, with the operator of the machine scanning a different bar code for each set of prints.

Thanks a lot guys. I was right in between deciding to try an early walk-In for I-131 finger print and waiting to received N400 biometric notice, but like Jackolantern said, it will probably be better to wait for the 28th and hope to receive N400 within the next few days in order to take them both to my April 28th appointment? It might speed up my I-131 to do the biometric early, but would prefer to pay one visit if possible. Also Bigjoe5, since the N400 requires the A-file, then they will definitely see that I've recently done biometrics, if done early, but I guess it doesn't matter?

Your A-file is used for housing the N-400 application and is needed for some underpaid clerk to dig through for any "other name variations" for your name check for the N-400 processing. The FP results are in a FP computer database that will talk to other databases that control each application and match the FP from the I-131 to the I-131 application. The N-400 FP result will be associated with the N-400 application information separately from the I-131.

The whole manual process whereby results can be search by other info (name and DOB, A#, I-94, passport#, etc...) is there to allow a USCIS Officer to do "troubleshooting" when things go wrong somewhere along the way and you end up making a complaint and various Customer Service, Congressional, and Ombudsman inquiries. You don't want any part of THAT in the first place. It would usually be the result of data entry in an early stage of processing that causes a mismatch of the computer records and leave an application hanging in suspense and/or denied for your failure to get fingerprinted.
