My AP with a RD date Sep 27 2003 got approved today (Feb 13 2004). along with my other family members.

My details:

My 140 is still pending. My EAD is pending since September 02. I am thinking to apply for AP.

Did you ask for one trip or more?

What circumstances we may write to get the AP?

I think your EAD should be coming within a week or two.
I also had a similar situation like yours. I had an RFE for my I-140 and the reply was received on Dec 01 2003 (yours Dec 18 2003)
and I-140 was approved on Jan 20 2004 and the same day
they ordered for my EAD card and finally approved on Jan 23 2004 and the card reached me within 4 days.
But my AP was approved on Feb 13 2004 (three weeks after
I-140 and EAD approval).

My AP is for multiple trips and not for a single trip. I didn't apply
by myself but my company attorney. I don't know what reason was given there. I don't know if one has to give a reason for
it (unless for an emergency request in a local office).

You could have applied for AP along with EAD.

I hope I answered your doubts.

Just keep checking your I-140 approval this week and I hope it will be coming up pretty soon.
