Send in your EAD renewal application as early as possible lest that you should be stuck on an "out of status" condition.
We spent 460 USD on extensions of EAD and AP and guess what?
EAD renewal appears just two days before we get the GC approval notice. But it was worth it because there was an audit at the company and they wanted the latest paperwork (I am sure that they would not have appreciated an expired EAD to submit it for official purpose).
May cost you buckeroos, but is always better to be safe than to be sorry.
