Hello Forum:
I have a question, my aunt who is in her 70's and has been aLR since 1979 wants to become a citizen but its afraid of the civics test and the English proficiency test. Do elderly long time LR still get tested? Thaks everybody for your help
There are some limited exemptions based on age and length of time as LPR. You should consult M-476 "Guide to Naturalization" for details.
Here is (what I believe to be) the relevant paragraph:
If you are over 65 years old and have lived in the United States as a Permanent Resident for periods totaling at least 20 years, you do not have to take the English test, but you do have to take a simpler version of the civics test in the language of your choice
Page 26 section (c) says, if you are over 65 and residing in US for more than 20 years you do not take english test, but requires to take a simpler version of civic test. Shouldn't be that hard.
