I hear people talking about "Senator". What is that all about. Do you contact your state senator's office and ask them to help you expedite the case or something?

Yes, if your case took longer than expected time, you can contact the local senator office and provide your details and request them to contact USCIS on your behalf.

United States Senator, not state senator. Immigration is federal, not state. By the way, most offices wont help you expedite, but you can get additional information.

I have never called a senator or anyone. What do you tell them? What if they tell you - you need to be citizen/regd voter or something to seek their help?
Are they generally helpful- does it help the case?
