Self initiated second FP

As suggested by marooned42 in another thread, I went ahead and scheduled an Infopass appointment for next Monday 9/17/07, in order to get my second FP even though I didn't get a notice from USCIS. The appointment is in NYC, 26 Federal Plaza. I have some questions:

1. The type of appointment I scheduled is ADIT processing. Is that ok?
2. I plan to show up there with the appointment receipt and the notice from my first FP, showing that my FPs have expired and I need a new set. The biometrics I did last time was code 3. What should I ask for this time, same (code 3) or code 1 or what?

Thanks

I didn't see an option on USCIS' Infopass website for ADIT processing, I wonder how you were able to specify to that level of detail. I'm beginning to think the options we get in Infopass differ from ASC to ASC. Instead of picking ADIT processing, I would have preferred to speak to an immigration officer ("need information or other services"), and enquired with the officer as to what's going on, and basically plead with him to take your FPs again.

I don't wish to sound discouraging, but in my local ASC, the people in charge of taking FPs don't decide on their own (in the absence of a FP appointment scheduled by a service center) whether to take FPs or not - they are usually directed to make exceptions by the resident immigration officers. However, your local ASC may have a different policy, so you can try your luck with the ADIT processing staff. If I were you, though, I'd rather take my chances with an IO than with someone who will take my FPs. Make sure to explain that a TSC IO has been saying for weeks that they will send you the FP notice, but they still haven't.

All said and done, do what you feel comfortable with, keeping in mind that the whole plan could backfire and you may not get any satisfaction at all from your appointment. Every single time I went to the ASC, I'd think "this is the day they'll all recognize me at the door and kick me out, directing the guard to never let me in again!". Luckily, that never happened.

And yes, try for Code 3.

All the best!

Yes, none of the options on the booking site mention "ADIT processing", but I think I chose options:

"Service on a case that has already been filed" -> next page ->
"Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing."

and after you go through the whole thing the receipt you get will say "ADIT processing". I think that's what I did, though I can't verify it without booking a whole new appointment.

So I basically faked that I received a notice. I'll try my luck pleading with the fingerprinting people, maybe they'll kick me out or send me somewhere else in the building. I had a general info appointment there once before, not on this issue, and that was a total waste of time.

Thanks again for your help marooned42, I'll post the account of what happens.
