Selective Services question

Hi,
I have been through the selective service thread but could not find answers to my questions below.

I have filled my N-400 a few days back and was reading some of the candidate interview experiences in this forum. Based on that i have a few questions about selective services,

1> I was 25 years old when i came to the US on my H1-B visa, so do i still need a letter for selective services that i had not applied (Some of the interviewees it seems were asked for this letter about "Selective services non registration" in their interview even though you are not required to register as in my scenario)

2> If i need to apply to get a status of my Selective services non registration, what documentation do i send them (SSS) (H1-B copy?, Job offer letter copy of my prior H1B job? should that be enough?)

I refered the below SSS status website URL based on which i have asked question 2.
(sss.gov url)

Thanks in advance

You don't need a letter from SSS - you were NOT required to register. Just show proof that until your 26th birthday you were in a valid non-immigrant status. Copy of your passport with visa or a copy of your h1 approval notice will be sufficient.

The USCIS requires a male who has lived in the United States as a non -immigrant during ages 18 through 25, to be registered with the Selective Service System. As you have not registered yourself, it is advisable to call 1-847-688-6888 and clarify.

Read the N-400 instructions, which are quite clear on this point.

You are only required to provide evidence of Selective Service registration (or a status information letter if not registered when required to) with an N-400 application if you are a male who had lived in the U.S. at some point between 18 and 26 years old in any status other than as a lawful non-immigrant.

Your post appears to indicate that you came to the U.S. on an H-1B visa when you were 25 years old and, I presumed, retained the H-1B status from the arrival to your 26th birthday.
In that case you were never required to register with Selective Service (since H1B is a nonimmigrant visa), so that you must answer "No" to Q33 on p. 9 of N-400 and you do not have to enclose any documentation regarding your Selective Service registration.
