ok so im 19, i never registered for selective service. i sent my n-400 about a month ago and just got my FP done yesterday

i sent my selective service form in the mail 2 weeks ago, and today i called and the agent told me it takes 30-60 days for them file it because theres about 1.9 million that get sent every month


my question is what if my interview date is about a week before my selective service form goes through, can i just tell the the person interviewing me thats its currently in the process?
 
You can't just tell them that. They will want proof that you registered -- either a letter from Selective Service or a printout from the Selective Service web site (they can go to the web site themselves to verify that your printout is genuine).

If you don't have the proof on the interview date, they will delay your application until you can provide it.
 
I think you need somehow get the Selective Service Acknowledgment card before you interview or may be your case will be delay.during my interview documents were asked are: NP ,DL ,GC and Selective Service Acknowledgment (they made copy of it.)
 
I remembered after my I-485 application interview dated 5 years ago, the officer who interviewed me followed me outside, handed me a "Welcome to America" flyer and said:"don't forget to register with the SSS, otherwise it can keep you from becoming a US citizen!" That was the first thing I did after I headed home that day. I don't understand why some folks delay it, it's not complicated at all, you can got everything done right online.

You can tell him that is in the process. But here is my question, why didn't you register the moment you turned 18th? If you don't produce proof of registration, your case won't be approved till you produce proof of registration dude. If USCIS award you citizenship, you might decide to never register for SS, so they are going to demand that you produce this proof. This is something which you won't make go away.

They delay it because they're not aware of it. Most people don't have an officer who tells them about it when their green card is approved. And it's not something people would normally go and research on their own without being told about it, because for most people it doesn't intuitively make sense that noncitizens would be required to register for anything military-related.
 
well i tried to do it online but it said it could not be done so i had to get the printout form and mail it in.....

now this card you guys speak of, how soon do you get that from the SSS agency?
