security clearance process !!!

Hello all,

I applied for a marriage based I-485 about 2 years ago, had my interview 9 months ago. I had not heard anything back so my lawyer sent out a letter last week inquiring about the status. She got a call today from the immigration officer telling her that he is awaiting the security clearance back !!!!!!

Of course the lawyer tried to comfort me telling me that it is not unusual for the security clearance to take this long since they randomly select applicants and scrutenize them more than other !!!

I of course I am freaking out, I can't eat, I can't sleep can't even smile !!! I worries sick because I have NEVER been to jail or charged with anything. My worst offense is a speeding ticket !!!!

Anyone going or has gone through this ? Is 9 months too long for the clearance ?

Please help me...

if you can't eat, sleep and smile, then all of us here are stuck for 2-4 years should already be dead. Come on, 9 months is just nothing. If you read or search name check thread you will get a better idea how we "suffer".

I am so sorry to offend you I really do not mean to. I just am ignorent to the process and since I have a SPOTLESS background I was not sure why it was taking so long...

Again I appologies...

no need to apologize and actually nothing offended me at all :p
I am just telling you the truth about this long delay process of NC or we called it "Stuck in Name Check". If you are stuck for 9 months, pretty much you will be stuck for a year or years. There is nothing we could do about it. Please read carefully about the thread "Stuck in Name Check--Let's track it" you will be eating, sleeping and smiling a lot better :D good luck to you!
 
Thankyou for the helpful info, so the name check is the same as the security check and it is done after the interview ? Cause I thought the FBI does the check prior to the interview...

Welcome to the Club. I am sure that 99.99% of us who are stuck in security check are innocent and have no criminal background. We have no option but to wait.
