On the USCIS site under rules regulations on left side when you click on the procedures it gives details as to how the USCIS is supposed to contact the FBI and other agencies regarding G 325, G325 A etc. It seems that in addition to the FBI, there is a CIA, and probably a consular check. So they might be sending something to your consul and we all know how long that can take. Interesting observation was that if FBI did not send any response in 40 days then it was assumed to be negative, however this was revised later on.
