Security check pending for more than 1 year

My I1485 case has been pending on security check for more than one year. Fingerprinted in July 2004, interviewed at local office in this April, and pending ever since. My wife's security check, whose case is dependent on me, had been cleared long time ago. I didn't hear anything about my security check. I am afraid that my files were lost somewhere.

Does anyone have similar experience? Is there any way that I can check the status or existance of my security check? My lawyer was not helpful at all.

Greatly appreciate.

Contact your US Congressmen and Senators. If they choose to assist you, they have access to the niformation you need by placing a couple of calls. Lawyers do not, US Congressmen and Senators do.

I'm on the same boat with you and I've been stuck on fbi name check since May of 2003! Over the past 7 months, I wrote to fbi several times, certified mail, email, u name it...no response what so ever, talked with the CIS officer who interviewed me twice, nothing he could do, contacted 2 senators and a cogresswoman, no use.... all leads to one answer: name check still pending! None of the senators or congresswomen offices is willing to do anything more than simply making status inquiries, not even trying to find out estimated completion date or any detail at all.

I called FBI almost twice a month since May of this year(202-324-3625, Hardy's office), first they said they were behind on replying emails, then in Sept. they said they would stop replying emails, when I called last week and today, they simply hung up the phone on me and redirected me to the voice recording(which tells me to send email) without even finishing hearing my first sentence.

Guess I ran out of options already....nothing else to do but waiting in the dark.

Try as hard as you can, but what matters most is luck.

A lot of people, including my family, are stuck in security check, there is a thread 'stuck in name check?..'

you will find a lot of info in there, including fbi e-mail and phone numbers and people's experience.
Also there is info that fbi is trying to clear 2002-2003 old cases and that is why they stopped answering e-mails; anyway when they did, it took 4 to 6 months to get a reply from them.
The longest time for name check I learned from there was I guess 4 years...

is there an option that you can contact CIS to ask for the Expedited Name Check Request? Will that help?

I do not think so... during my interview I asked to expedite it, and what they did was to submit another request for my name check, more that one month after interview... so I guess now I have 2 of them pending, one since oct 2003 and other since july 2005...not sure how submitting 2nd could accelerate 1st..
