Hi,
The RD on me and my spouse AP application is
RD: Sep22, 2006

We still didnt get info on hte status of our AP petitions. When my lawyer inquired first USCIS said it is under 'Detail Review' and then after 30 days when my lawyer inquired again, they said its under 'Security Check'.

So my questions
What does this 'security check' mean?
Is there anything we can do from our side and How can we help USCIS on this?
Is there a procedure to expedite this security check and then request them to remove this status?
What do we expect now, typically how long does it take from them to expedite a AP case under 'security check'?

Gurus please help by answering my above questions.

Thanks a lot in advance

See, I am very confused too, I read here in this forum, taht now USCIS do security checks before issuing EAD, but it makes no sence. My AP got approved in 15 days in TSC, so I doubt they do security checks for AP.

Your outside porocessing times, call them again.

Well mine is still pending from October 2006 too (AP that is). The processing date is past mine too. I have called and am waiting for a response. By any chance are you from one of the countries listed on the "list of 7"!

OH, then you are probably not in them. It is the list of top 7 dangerous countries. Citizens of them had to go through security clearance even before 9/11. I think immigration has always had tougher rules for them, but then it might just be my imagination.

Different applications go to different officers. One may request security check, the other may not. So, it is obvious that you may get one application approved long time before the other and so on. I assume that any one with red flag security will be issued the AP immediately to travel and will not let him in again unless his background is cleared.

Well I am from India. So again what should I expect from this 'Security Check' status?
