This thread is meant for information for those who are going for interview and for those who are in the last stages for 485. As we all know after the Interview the INS officer does a security check , before putting a stamp in the passport, some get the reply after the interview that security check is not completed and decision will be know later. For other they say no visa number available. What could be really happening with in this procedure ? All our experience readres please post your suggestions what you think may be happening at the INS when they do security check for the last time, is this again a IRS/ FBI check which is already completed, which does not make sense.

Info...

I was told by local BCIS that they need to do my security check before scheduling the interview. Apparently, the reason for the check was that VSC did not do the check properly (?!!!). I wonder what they did "improperly"? They said that 8 other people are going through the same problem, and cannot be scheduled before they are cleared.

It's the same wait...

There are just too many things that BCIS does not do things properly - otherwise, we won't be on this forum :)

Does anyone has gone through the sicurity clearence? How much time it took after they were told before stamping?

Any input is appreciated. Its very important to find out about the timeframe for the sicurity clearance.

Thanks.

Timeframe

According to my lawyer, security check is 4 months for people w/ local interview (like me). I have waited 3 months-nothing.

According to people on web, check lasts on average 3-4 months.

I do not know what you should expect...

With 4th of July, and everyone needing some other sort of security check (politicians, private pilots, us, etc.), FBI resources, I bet, are stretched thin.

P.S. (not too related)
Read this: it explains how schools are suffering because of lengthy visa interviews. Yep, there will be little or no more cheap RA, TA'S and rich undergrads paying out-of-state tuition, among other things, no more of the best and the brightest from around the world working in the universities. OOOOPS !
