Though my letter dated April 4th, 2008 and i received it 31st July same year and i sent it back August 1st, 2008

Your case number is for the DV 2008 lottery. Not the current one being processed. If it is correct then its over.
But ill assume thats a mistake and you meant 2009. Just ring KCC and ask them about it.

Holy shit, call KCC asap. Your number was current in November and I bet you already missed the interview date and need to reschedule it.

The case number is 2008AF0000804X and dated April 4th Is not 2009..............

Well then its over for you i would think as it would have been last years lottery.

Or i would suspect that it is some sort of scam maybe and not legit.
Did the letter come direct from the Kentucky Consular Center?

it is actually $22,200 but you have to meet 125% of this so it is fact $26,500

Is this just money in the bank?
Or can they take into account ownership of a house/apartment asset or ownership of a car (with no loan payments outstanding)?

Ill be hoping about €15,000 in my bank, €4,000 in wifes bank account, €9,000 in joint account, full ownership of a car worth €10,000 and mortgage on an apartment we both will be enough.
Wont have job offer and think the I-134 is too invasive of personal details to ask any relatives in the states to complete for sponsorship.

Thats plenty enough to sponsor yourself for funds only. You wont need to worry about job offer or i-134. I had about 9K just for me, with out the other two and I was fine. (in dub embassy)

Hey, thanks for that.
Sent you pm but your inbox is full.

So how are things over in the States after the move?
Do you like it much better than this dreary and rapidly decaying hell hole?
Not too affectionate of it now as you can guess. The 1% levy (theft) has just come in and makes me mad every time i think of it.

How has the snow and freezing temps been in Boston? Are they very hard to deal with?

Hi, all!

I would appreciate your responses on the following:

my number will be current in March (EU19XXX). I am still to receive the second NL . I'm a bit confused about the interview scheduling process: if my number is current in March, does it mean that my interview will be held in March, or they will only begin scheduling appropriate case numbers in March, so the intreview will be probably held some time later?

How far in advance does KCC usually notify about the interview date?

Thank you!

If your number is below 19800 your interview will be scheduled for march.
2nd NL expect around start of feb but you can ring kcc and get your interview date at the end of next week so you don't have to wait for the letter.
Interview I suppose can be anytime in march

Hey, smcg, thanks so much for the quick reply:)

I will give KCC a call next week at your advice. I guess I'm just getting a bit nervous - I have to arrange for a lot of travel!!

Another question - about the affidavit of support. Does it matter who is it from? Should it be family, friend?

Thanks again!

Don't think it matters who it's from but I think it has to be someone in the US though.
They also have to meet certain requirements in the I-384 form

Don't worry about the travel you have at most 8 months for a quick trip over to activate then to move over after another 6 months

I think they may also have to have a job with a certain level of income
But I could be wrong

Thanks again, smcg!

I'm actually in the US rught now, chose to do CP (hence - a TON of travel:)
I just thought of another question: I need to return back to the states right after my interview (very busy semester, graduating in May!!) - will I get some kind of a visa in the passport that will allow me to travel, and then they will mail the green card to my US address?

Ooohhh are you over on some sort visa already?
I think will cause issues.

If you get the visa at the interview then that's it, that's the visa you will have to use.
If you go over directly after successful visa you will start activation of the visa.
Think you can leave the Us but not sure if you can go back until you get the actual greencard.
And if you go directly after will mean you then have 6 months only to immigrate over as opposed to a near 12 months

Why do you say it might be an issue?

If understand the process correctly ( i hope), at the time of the interview the embassy issues a visa ("stamp" in the passport), which allows you to travel, GC is sent out later. There are a lot of examples of people doing CP while in the US, even on this forum. I might call KCC to clarify all of this:)

thanks again for your feedback!

Yeah, I'm just unclear whether you go back and forth multiple times with temp stamp before you get the actual greencard. Suppose it's not really a one time use stamp or at least I haven't seen it described as one.
Interesting though
