Second job while on H-1B

I am currently on an H-1B working for an investment banking firm. My degrees were a Bachelor's and a Master's in EE.

Since I am also interested in the arts, I would like to contribute to my local museum by working there and being involved. Am I prohibited from working at my local museum since I am on H-1B and I cannot work at a job not related to my degree?

Thanks

You can volunteer with out taking any compensation. Which is allowed.

Just be sure that the position is normally filled by a volunteer and that you are not getting anything that could possibly be considered compensation. I have seen research fellows "volunteering" at a hospital, it is impossible to convince USCIS that this is not "employment" since this is not normally a volunteer position.
