Second I-539 while one is pending

My B2 visa extension is pending, and the requested extension date is nearing. Can I file another I-539 quoting the current receipt number to request another extension now?

Thanks for responding. Here's more of the scoop.

I need to stay beyond the requested date on the pending request. I had filed for extension of my B2 through 31st March, but I haven't heard back yet, and I guess one has to leave by that date if you don't get a response from USCIS, right? But I need to stay for one more month. Given the fact that they take at least a month to process, I should have initially asked for 2 months. So, what I am thinking of doing now is file another extension even before they process the one that is pending just so that I can continue to stay past 31st. Is that something that you have heard of as a possibility? The form in one section asks for the receipt number of pending request. I thought I could make use of that process. But then it talks about preceding one filed by "spouse" and stuff. That is a bit confusing.
