Second FP notice

Hi All,
My wife and myself applied for citizenship in Jan 2006 , Had finger prints taken on Feb' 06. Had interview in June 2006. Both of us passed the interview and I had my oath that day itself. My wife was stuck in "name check".
We have been taking info pass regularly to find the same answer "Still to receive clearance from FBI".:(
Yesterday after close to 2 years after we took our first Finger print, she got a second notice from Newark office indicating that she needs to go for fingerprinting on Jan 8, 2008.

Does this indicate anything positive or just another routine step from INS for renewing the finger prints?

Fingerprints expire after a certain amount of time (12-18 months). From the letter you received it appears that USCIS has recently looked at your wife's pending case and noticed that the FP were expired. Whether it means they will render a decision on the case 1 month after the 2nd FP or 8 months later is anyones guess. Considering that your wife's interview was over 1 year ago, you might want to consider filing 1447(b) if you don't see any action after 90 days of the 2nd FP date.

I read somewhere that I cann't remamber now that every 15 months (USCIS Calender time) FP expires or they will run out of business and they need people to keep them busy with great work of Finger printing.
I am happy that they have not started charging us for the second one YET.
