hi all,
Im an Aussie and my wife is American.
i have permanent residency and we are in the Usa now.
is it possible to leave the usa (for 3-4yrs in Australia).then return??
Assuming that they will not let me back in the usa due to abandoning my permanent residency.

What are the options If we finally decide to settle in the USA after a few years in Australia.
reapply for permanent residency??
Travel permit?
reentry permit?

any help would be great thanks

Mate, watch the taxes down under:) Income tax is too damn high in Australia which support the liberal benefits of indefinite dole and all the other concession card "entitlements".

I miss the mild summers of Melbourne compared to the punishing and humid summers up here in MN.

Good luck..

Consult Att. I heard if your spouse (US citizen) has a permanent job outside US and you want to stay with your spouse, stay requirement for your stay towards citizen will be waived.

WOW..!!! "punishing summer" in Minnesota..???

Not surprising at all. It's 90 degrees, humid and infested with blood sucking blackflies for the six weeks of the year that it's not thirty below zero.... :D

Just got back from a weekend ski trip up north in the boundary waters wilderness area. Got a taste of the season's first -26F. Forecast is for a "balmy" 30 later this week:) At temperatures below -25F even boiling water thrown up in the area vapourizes and no water falls on the ground, and blown soap bubles freeze before falling on the ground!

That is MN winter! Is it any wonder that "Undocumented workers" don't make it this far.
