Second approval letter after a month

Got first Approval (Welcome) letter on July 18
Passport stamp ( withou photos) on July 02
Updated SSN on July 06
Received another approval letter(photo) July 14
Go to get another stamp ( photo+FP) July 19

are you going to go for another stamp? It was not clear from your post if you are actually planning to go there on July 19. Please clarify.
Wouldn't that confuse the IIO's at local INS office
Did you attorney also receive another approval letter
 
You can publish a good non-fiction story on USCIS.

got the authentic approval notice at last. stamping already done. So don't know what to do with this notice. I guess all of guys who got 'welcome' letter will receive the authentic approval notice
The ND on this is July 9, 2004 which is the same day when the online case status returned
The ND on welcome notice was July 1, 2004
 
you guys should not have gone for stamping earlier because USCIS made is clear that "welcome" notice was not good for I-551 processing.

I think you should talk to USCIS about it. Or better go for stamping again and tell them the story.

How one has to update his/her SSN no after I 485 Approval?

Well USCIS never made anything clear. The attorneys did put their knowledge of it (as received from their contacts in USCIS) on their website but then again this could not be confirmed by my attorney. I called up NSC and after making me read the entire notice , the rep told me that my case is approved (though she gave no furthter instructions).I went to INS office hoping that they would give more explanation of the error. TThe morons never did anything - just one cursory glance at I797 and stamping.
Should I have asked for more explanation from them - probably yes

Aww .. no - I disagree.
If USCIS was very clear about it, then their own staff should not have done the 551 stamping with the welcome notice.

I don't think anyone was aware as to what the heck it meant !
 
i too got my "welcome" notice dt. 6/28 and got stamped (giving photos and FP) on 7/9... yday i received the usual approval letter dt. 7/9 ... and only yday my online status changed ... clearly the system is so screwed up...

also the officer who filled out our forms and took the FP's, looking into his system, said that my case was approved on 6/16 and i'm a perm resident since then... makes me wonder !!!

as far as I can see, you are the first one on this forum who has posted that IIO confirmed during stamping with welcome notice that you were indeed approved when you received the welcome notice. That should be good news for applicants like us

Am waiting for feedback from my attorney on the second approval notice (don't think that she will say anything though). Maybe kinganil's impending visit can clarify things for us.
Meanwhile , I intend to call up NSC and inquire about their viewpoint. Though of course, once again, I don't expect them to clarify anything. Once they told me that a new WAC number will be generated for plastic card. The rep made that statmenet with a lot of confidence and authority. When I asked her to consider that statment again, she almost admonished me for making her repeat herself. God and BCIS move in mysterious ways
