Folks,

Does anyone know if Scopus can be used in lieu of Google Scholar or ISI Web of Science? I extensively rely on Scopus because I find it more up to date than either of the rest.

Can Scopus be used as a serviceable substitute for these. Any comments/thoughts?

Yes we can use the scopus instead of web of science or ISI. I am also planning to use Scopus.
 
Thought:

They all seem equally arbitrary so I don't see why not.

Unless just because of the sheer volume of applicants preferring one over the others, that one has gained some trust status in the readers mind.
