Schengen visa on RP thru Italy

anybody knows how long it usually takes to get a Schengen visa on a RP (with green card) thru Italian consulate (in SF)??? Thanks.

I applied for a Schengen visa through the Italian consulate here in LA back in October 2006, with just my RTD and no GC at the time. It took a week.

In SF it takes them 2 to 3 weeks... apply with plenty of time.
The ladies in the Italian Consulate in SF are very rude and not very helpful, so be prepare and have lots of patient...

Good Luck,

thanks. I have already noticed that they are very rude! I have emailed them without any response and I called and the guys who answered hung up while I was still talking to him!

I have applied for a schengen visa recently

I applied for a schengen visa on my rtd in december from the french consulate in San Francisco. It took about 3 weeks and they are strict but I got it. I still don't have my green card. If you are going to multiple countries in Europe maybe you can get it from the french consulate if your primary destination is france or you are spending most of your time in the EU there. Good luck.

So far the best EU consulate I have experienced getting a visa (with GC and without) is The Netherlands consulate in L.A., followed it by the French consulate in L.A.

The Netherlands consulate in L.A are very nice, and very friendly... nothing like the Italian consulate in SF.

There is one consulate of the Netherlands in San Mateo (SF Bay Area) but they never answer the phone, and you have to make an appointment by phone...

Italian Consulate in NYC is the rudest one. A Taiwanese w. GC went there 3 times and was declined. Eventually, she was told not to go there for the visa until she becomes a US citizen. Unbelievable! Why do the Italian officers are so errogant?

Did she want just a visit visa? In that case it makes no sense for those idiots to tell her that she should wait to become a citizen since she won't need a visa at that point.

Italian consulate officers are like that... arrogant, rude and racist. Im not surprise that they talked like that to that taiwanese person... I avoid that consulate all the time. I always get my EU SCH visa in either NL or FR... then with the visas from those states I can go to Italy anyways...

I was in Italy recently and was once chatting to an officer in a cafe who told me that the illegal immigration is very high in Italy. If you been to Italy, you can see flux of chinese immigrants & african population who start to run as soon as they see Police officers.

I think the embassies are instructed to be careful with certain nationalities when giving out visas.

that,s true some of the ladies are really nasty.i try to apply for a shengen at the italian consulate in new york and want me to go online and make an appoint.and when i called the holland embassy they says come in any time. so i went and took holland shengen and after getting off in amsterdam i then went milan.i guess they lost the visa fee

I understand that Want, and I know illegal immigration is bad in Italy and Spain... BUT to GC holders??? regardless of their citizenship... they are permanent residents of the U.S.... I dont think many GC holders would rather go live in Italy....than in the U.S.....

Why would any Chinese/Africans with American GC want to live in Italy? Is that an international joke? The brains of those visa officers must be seriously damaged.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I went to the consulate in SF yesterday. the visa office is open Mon and Thu from 1-3 only! and one can only apply in person. they were not nice at all and were super super slow!

If you live in the real world, you need to accept the fact of racial profiling. It happens everywhere..from visa offices to airports..so please wake up!

Of course, I live in the real world and I dont think I need anybody to tell me that. Lots of people here are very nice and helpful. But there are a few on this forum who always like to talk in a bossy way. :)

Everybody is from a certain race. Sth ugly is unavoidable sometimes.
