Is anyone there from San Antonio who had their fp and I-485 interview completed but the fp clearance and background name check clearance had not made it by the time of the I-485 AOS interview? How much time after the interview did the fp and name check cleared and they got their GC? Did the GC come in the mail or they had to go for another interview?

My wife's fp is on Nov 1 and I-485 interview on Nov 15. I do not anticipate a 2 week turn around from fbi. I am curious to know what happens if the fp and name check is not cleared by the time of the interview for I-485 occurs

Thanks.

Hello enjoylife,

I read your thread today and I am also from San Antonio and am in the same boat. My fp date is dec 13th 2005 and my interview date is 21st Dec in San Antonio. I am also not sure if fp results will show up by dec 21st but could you please write about how your interview went. Good luck for your interview.

Thanks.

Your FP clearance may or may not be in by the time of the interview. It takes 7 to 12 days for the results to appear on USCIS' computers. The FP clearance is no big deal however. If it is not there by the time of your interview, it will most likely be posted with a few days and you will be approved a few days later. I know of one case where that happened.

The biggest problem is not the FP, but the name check. If your name check is not cleared, it will take anytwhere from 1 week to 2 years to complete your case.

I had the same situation, my FP appointment was for the 12/02/05 but I went to the ASC on 11/09/05 and they did it anyway, my intreview is on 12/21/05, that they will give them more than a month to have the results. Try to walk in and have you FP done. Good Luck!!

Hello lagger,

I got my FP notice in Dallas but my interview appointment is in San Antonio office. So should I go to Dallas or San Antonio for my walk in FP? Also did you have to wait for a long time before they did the FP? What reason did you give them for doing the FP even though you had a notice?

Thanks.

Hi neero

Just go to the address in the FP Notice you received, mine was in Laredo and my interview is in San Antonio. Just go there very early, like 7:30 with your Appointment notice. I told them that I had a family emergency and Í was affraid I wouldn't be able to do it on the appointment date, that my lawyer told to show there and ask them if they can do it now. The important thing is that at that time there are not many people waiting to do their FP. Just tried to make them believe that you really need to do your FP. Another thing that really matters and they usually understand is if your FP appointment date is near your interview date.
Good luck!!

My wife got her passport stamped with I-551 (green card). Officer called her name and on the way to office asked her how long had she been married? In the office he swore us in and then asked for photo id, her passports , our daughter birth certificate, whether we were applying for our daughter's immigration ( I said she was born in US). He asked about both our previous marriages and if we had kids from previous marriage when were we married.

He went through and confirmed details in the forms like name, address, parents name etc. Then went out a couple of times to make copies, drink water. He asked me where I worked, what I did, what my company did.

After that he said everything is in order and he is approving our application and stamping the passport I-551. I asked if the fp and fbi name has cleared he said yes. When will the GC come. He said 10-45 days it should be in the mail. Congratulated us and then escorted us out from the office. Did not ask for any other papers I had carried. Gave back extra copies of docs I had sent with the forms.
