same OPT to H1 question once again...

Hi Rajiv,
This is the question repeatedly asked in the forums.....we ((a bunch of 4 students) went through all the threads.....but we would really appreciate if you can guide us ......

Our OPTs will expire in June....and we are planning to apply for H1 in the first week of april.....In the meanwhile we are planning to apply for I20 (starting from May/june/july) to maintain status....
1) I came to know recently that going for two things (F1, H1) at a time will negate H1? Is it true?
2) if it is true then what can we do to maintain status till october?

3) if your advice is to wait until a notification is released ....can you please let us know when it may be released?

++++++Not true. There is (was?) something called the "last action rule." That rule said, whatever is approved last is your status. As far as I remember, CIS has pretty much abandoned that rule in this context.

++++++++++++Yes. Best to wait. Release should come within the next week or so (or may be never :-( - who knows)
