ok guys, if you're expectong some kind of question you've never addressed before, move on.
I successfully passed my interview on 10/5. GC 5 years anniversary was on 10/8, so I was handed a piece of paper recommending me for approval. It's been 4 weeks already and no news yet. MY questions:
1- What number can I call to inquire on my application?
2- What's taking so long? Is this normal?
3- Why am I so tired of waiting?

Any input would be appreciated.

A depressed GC holder.

Yes, it is normal, it depends on when they schedule interviews in your local office. You seem tired, so I wouldn't recommend to exert yourself going to an Infopass to your local office. My advice would be to wait for another 4 weeks. If you don't hear anything by then schedule an Infopass. I would assume that if you had your interview before your 5 year anniversary that means that your application is moving fast and you shouldn't be that tired of waiting. You should have seen a couple of years ago when it took a year or more for naturalization and people routinely got stuck on name checks for months on end.

1-800-375-5283

They have up to 120 days after interview to render a decision on your case. Be patient, you'll get your oath letter soon.
3- Why am I so tired of waiting?
Because you're anxiously awaiting an answer. Again, be patient..you'll gte your oath letter before you know it.

There is no need to be tired or depressed. Getting GC was supposed to be much harder! Now, in any case, you are legally in this country, can work and travel, so yes g fo infopass, ask, call, etc. but with calm!

We gave you the number already, so call and let us know what they tell you. :(

2. Unless this is your first time dealing with USCIS, you should know better by now that US govt is a snail. Taking long is what makes USCIS a top notch efficient govt dept. :D

3. Tired...blue pill could be healthy for your heart and back pain. Also, I highly recommend spiced pecan cereal by Kirkland, soy milk and a freshly cut banana every morning for 2 weeks. Tiredness might be a sign of a short erection periods caused by USCIS "waitingology disorder", normal for people waiting for US citizenship oath.

Al you can be a good doctor!

@ Al Southner, thank you for your (medical) advices. I definitely suffer from waitingology as my (now ex) girlfriend use to say: "I wish I could get half of the attention you give this immigration portal website".

So I called USCIS today. Thye have a very "interesting" way of handling questions. The lady I spoke with sounded like a robot and was asking me questions and reading a scripts. I tried to interrupt her and explain that I had already gone through the interview. She wouldnt listen and kept on reading everything from "you will receive an appointmente letter for an inteview" to "you will be asked civic questions". Anyway. she must be paid by the word.

Question: how do you request to be transferred to a (competent) IO?

Unless you give your receipt number or A# number, she is surely going to read from a transcript.

One way to avoid this, is just tell her you filed your N-400 and did not get a receipt yet. She herself will transfer to the second level IO

Try tomorrow and see if you are lucky! I am sure you will get transferred.

Sanjay73, I called and the second level IO told me I was in queue for oath. DOes anyone know how long it takes?

Each case is different. You're going to drive yourself crazy. I am pretty sure you'll get your letter within two or three weeks. Otherwise if they've run out of space on ceremonies before Christmas holidays you might be pushed until January (I really doubt this will be the case).

Anazouine,

Please print this prescription which any Walmart or Kmart can fill or any major reputable pharmacies.

20 blue pills
Beetle juice
Cow dung bagel (12 bagels)- trader joe sells them..:D

Eat one bagel every morning, drink a blue pill at exactly 4pm, down another one with a beetle juice at 7pm. I am certain your "waitingology disorder" will disappear. I am sure your oath letter should be in the mailbox over the weekend, though USCIS doesn't work on weekend, they specialize in weekend surprises...

This is a good post. I have waitinology disorder too even though my interview is only on Monday, November 9. But I am already nervous about the oath letter. They should give us those antidepressants together with the study material. Everybody here writes that is possible to postpone the oath, but my question is: can the IO be symphatetic to my situation and give me the oath day in November or early December?

It depends on the DO - some offer same day oath, some offer per a schedule. Assuming your DO operates on a schedule - early November oath is out, but they may listen to early December request.
