This december, the congress enacted a law, check this, that was valid for 2 days. It was done so a canadian skater could become a US citizen (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/columnists/sfl-mikeb20feb20,0,4376239.column)

So [a] if someone is that quality, even W. will interrupt his vacation (he didnt for Katerina) and I think they will have no problems playing against their mother/father-land.

I love the people of my country, its the government I have a problem with. So if I were on the ice, I'd be glad to meet my ex-countrymen, and then beat them. Too bad I am not that good--otherwise I'd have my citizenship a long time ago, like Belbin :)

Hey, are you in Florida--I lived there for two years and the Sun Sentinel was my favorite local paper? (just curious) :p

I think under IOC rules when someone becomes a citizen of another country she has to wait a number of years before she can compete for her new country. But the old country can waive the requirement. I guess Canada did that here.

Nope--just visited Disney a few times :)

This was the best writeup for the story I could find. (btw, this story really pisses me off. I think the NY times printed this and a contrasting story about 2-year olds being deported, but I can't find it now)
