Is it possible to stay in US for the first 3 years after getting GC and then leave out of the country for 179 days come back to US stay for 15 days and then go back for another 179 days and do this for the rest of the 2 years before applying for citizenship.I

theoretically speaking it's possible. HOWEVER,

you need to be extremely careful. During the citizenship interview the USCIS officer will ask you where do you live no, where do you work now etc... if he will then think that you don't currently reside (live & work) in the US he will deny your application.

Wheat I suggest is that before you apply for citizenship and while you are waiting for your interview you'll come back to live & work in the US to show that your main place of residence is the US.

Also, there is one requirement according to N400 Information Guide...

You are eligible to apply for citizenship only if you lived in the district (within US) for at least 3 months prior to the application date.

So, I would suggest, before applying for citizenship, come back to US at least 3 months ahead and establish a permenant address.
