hi, i spoke to an IIO yesterday
she had a heavy accent , i couldn't follow her easily
i really didn't understand what she was trying to say. she spoke something and said"OK THank you"
i asked her again when do u think my case will be approved
she got mad and raised her voice in a rude manner"4 more months.u filed in FEB 2002 . we r processing Nov 2001" then she told something i didn't undrestand. something like backlog.
i asked her when will the backlog be cleared
she answered "who knows. ok thank you"
it was so frustrating. God
what else we can do rather than being humble to these people ?

Guys,

My ND is 1/23/2002 and 2 weeks back an IIO at San Jose office told me 4-6 months :D :D

It's better that they tell us 4-6 months than the usual 2-3 weeks crap. Or new "officers" assigned to i-485 cases.

cennai67...

have patience...those half-wits will remain IIOs for the rest of their lives..we will go on to live better lives.

Even had you understood what she said it would not make any difference. Whether we speak to them or not, whether we understood or not, the answer is same. Nothing but Simple BULL SHIT!!!

It will definitely take more than 4 month.
Here is my educated guess. According to Kashmir's project, there is about 8000 pending 485 cases within 02-001...02-100 range, that is prior to all February 02 filers.
Right now, CSC shows average performance of about 20 - 30 cases per day. To get it done in 4 month (roughly 85 working days), we have to see 90-100 approvals per day in that range. This can happen only if they double or triple the number of officers working on 485.

ND is right, plus you've gotta consider that these days do to the ridiculous security checks, it takes so long to do the checks that,

check_time > expiry_time,

so by the time your check is done, your other checks start expiring,

which means, your app goes in an infinite loop. (Which is why you still have a few sept. people waiting).

In other words, 8000/25=320 working days to get to Feb 02. That's about 420 calendar days. February 02 cases will be therefore adjudicated in July 2004.
Not bad, still below 975-999 days typical processing time.
On the other hand, the term "working day" is not very clear when it comes to government officials - civil servants who are not very civil, according to cennai67.

Yeah, my educated guess does not include 01-XXX backlog, which is quite a bit of a work, but it is correct because kashmir's project measures CSC performance only on 02 data. Actually, CSC is now working on reducing 01 backlog, too, say, about 20 cases per day. It is hard to predict when 01 work is over, some Aug-Sept days still have over 100 cases pending per day. What I can say for sure is that when 01 backlog is over (except of a few unlucky guys with complicated cases), they'll speed up even w/o new hires. This can happen within 2-3 months.
BTW, I don't know why they didn't put JIT on 09/01/01. Honestly, it is standing right there.

Ignore that moron! We have been having problems with him in other threads. Better to ignore him than bandy words with idiots. I think either:
1. he has been possesed by the spirit of a dead INS officer.
2. He has gone crazy from the strain of waiting for his GC
Hence these rambles.

There you go

I think BCIS is meeting their goals.

Even as mock terrorism drills have been conducted, Under Secretary Asa Hutchison has reaffirmed that improved customer service at the BCIS remains a top goal of the DHS. In a May 7, 2003 speech, Mr. Hutchison pledged that the BCIS "will treat applicants with fairness and respect, preserving our tradition as a warm and welcoming nation that values the contributions of immigrants." We applaud Mr. Hutchison for this commitment and believe that eFilings of applications and the abolition of NSEERS are signs of continuing this commitment.
