RTD Renew Question

If I have a current RTD but wont need it after September can I start the procedures to get anew one? Do I have to wait untill the RTD expires before turning it in to INS? All input is areciated. Thanks guys.
No you don't need to wait until it expires. Just attach the original unexpired RTD to your I-131 application and you'll be fine.

Yeah, I've done that. But, say you're applying for your new one now, and the old one expires in 3 months, you may as well keep it in case they take a long time to process it. You can write "Set to expire in (DATE)" in the application. If they do begin processing before the expiration date, they'll ask for it back. This is just if you want to keep your old one, of course.
