Friends,
I am to the point where I going to loose it and probably may go on hunger strike in front of a USCIS building (does not matter which one)
Here is my story of becoming a rogue from an honest man.
I came to the USA on F-1 for doing my MBA from Kellogg (One of top five schools) and completed it with flying colors. Unfortunately, it was during the time when we had market crash and the economy was going south. Anyways, I did manage to get a job with GE. They did my H-1 and filled my Green card. My green card was filled three years back from New Jersey but never moved an inch. I also had offers from several other companies but I decided to stick with GE as my green card was still in process.
During all these years, I have been regularly paying taxes and have never got even a single traffic ticket.
The wait abruptly came to end when PERM came into picture. I was told that if I have to go through PERM, I cannot use my GE experience also because of recent layoffs in GE it will difficult to show that no qualified citizen was available. Also, re-filling through PERM, with just my Master’s degree was not an option as there may be several fresh graduates looking for Jobs and not to mention those who do online MBA. Thus, I decided to leave my secure and high paying job to become a computer consultant with a small 12 people firm, which places people through mid clients on contract basis (called projects).
How I managed to get that job in computer field is another interesting story. Initially, I started fair and square but was not getting even a single call. It was very disheartening to see that people with no strong credentials were getting several projects. How they were doing that!. By faking their resumes! So, I too finally decided to quit being Mahatma Gandhi and faked my resume. Guess what! I did get a job with a top pharmaceutical firm on first interview, though 30% cut goes to my consulting firm (sort of fees to sponsor me).
Now, next step was to go through PERM process. We started by publishing Ads on SWA website and newspapers. The Ads were designed to benefit me, obviously. This in my opinion is a joke. Several people looking for the job applied, my employer/lawyer interviewed and rejected them on one ground or other. The unethical thing here is that those who apply for the position do not know that the primary purpose of the interview is to reject them. Of course, I want them to be rejected as I want my freedom at any cost. But the whole drama is pushing me further on the roads of deceit and lies. I am not sure how many more dirty things I will need to do, but I will do whatever it takes, for I believe my rights to live and work here is much superior than many people who come here illegally , do not pay taxes or are involved in crimes.
Thanks
Sarang Singh
