Right to know

Someone says the 485 processing is gonna pickup in oct. somebody says its Jan. And now someone else is saying its March 2004.

This is very frustrating. Why can't BCIS tell/announce what they want to do with the 485 applications? Can we not have a right to know what they are planning to do?

Do we have a right to know ? I think we should stage a protest, however small it may be, on this.

I have been shouting for quite sometime to stage a protest at laguna office. Hand over the petition during the protest and get the attention. Media will show up only if there is a protest.

A 2 second glimpse of the whole thing on the TV or a small article in a newspaper will ignite more attention...

I am all for it...

I am in for any procession in bay area. like a walk on golden gate bridge on saturday would do good towards getting some attention.

I am all for a procession in Bay Area too.
People living in the southern california can plan one more on the same day to draw attention. Lot of Immigrant American groups stage protests. I think we should do too.
Email network is the easiest to do. Email to as many people as you can and bring in a few banners gather near the local INS office. I don't think walking on bridge will help.

mango_pickle,

Drawing attention, could also lead to drawing unwanted attention. Though your motives are good, it could lead to further problems if it wakes up antagonists of the immigrant system. The best way to go about this is, in my opinion, Kashmir's way. Start small and bring this to the notice of people who count, not the general masses, who don't understand jack shit of economics or immigration policy. To them you are taking away their jobs, and on account of them having votes, their voice will definitely be heard over yours.

If you really want to help out and be heard, I strongly urge you to join the various projects going on right now, not to mention Kashmir's valiant effort to throw light on this problem via political action!

We don't need to wake up anybody, already their labor unions are fighting for the rights of these morons and you have seen the effect of it already in the H1B cap coming down....

If you don't voice out and fight, then they will also lobby to bring down the GC applications processesed....If that goes through, you would not have a shit that you can do about...

Fight now and win it ....

I understand what you are trying to say, 140. Really got frustrated with when I read the March 2004 thread.
I understand what Kashmir is doing and really appreciate it. But we need larger numbers to represent the problem.

Does anybody know if Mr. Katri is planning to have any public meetings anytime in CA ? If we can meet Mr.Katri in large numbers that might help. That way we are not making this whole thing public and at the same time raising the issue at the right venue with the right people. Its his duty/responsibility to work for the immigration community. Atleast we should fight for a clear communication if not for approvals.

I agree with I-140...The best way to get attention is to send petitions to the likes of Khatri and hope for the best. Processions may not get us the sympathy that we need.

But, if the majority here thinks that processions will work and organize one, i will do my part and participate. Willing to travel anywhere in California.

Don't worry about the anticipated dates! I have heard that so many times, I have lost count, as to when someone thinks the processing is going to pick up. When it comes, it will come, till then continue to fax/email congressmen.

With regards to large numbers - I have noticed that numbers do get bigger even if you keep adding 1 to them! :) Do your bit and try to convince even one other person to do what you do, the pyramid scheme will take over! (look at amway) :)

AMWAY ??? wow ... cool dude ... 140 ......

First ... the AMWAYans were tolerable .... NOW they are intolerable ... obnoxious and frustrating ...

I hope our petition won't turn the politicians and others into disgusted, annoyed and uninterested people ....

Please don't take AMWAY as a basis for any comparison ...
I am one of the people who happened to be annoyed at Bestbuy, Libraries etc....

*SIGH* Obviously the finer points of the tounge in cheek statement, missed you by a mile.

The only conclusion I implied when I used "AMWAY" was to denote how pyramid scheme's work! I don't see how our situation could be any worse, so the only place we can go with persistence, regular and patient petitioning, is UP! If the 'politicians and others', decide to give us our GC, just to get us off their backs then I would still consider it as a victory! I am sorry if you interpreted that to mean intolerable, obnoxious or frustrating.
