RFE sign of good things to come?

I received an RFE last week. Seems my Attorney did not send my unabridged birth certificate with my I485 application. Does this mean processing started on my case? Could I expect a decision soon then? The suspense is killing me!

Some vital stats:
RD late-nov 2003
Not affected by retrogression
RFE March
Receipt of RFE Mar 15, 2005

I received the email on March 16 and since the date jumped once to Mar 18.

My fingers are itching to type a letter of resignation... :)

Depends on your luck

I know some people who got it in couple of days. some peiople got it in few weeks. Then there are people who have been waiting for months.
I myself, have been waiting for 12 days (After CIS received my resposne). :D

I guess it really depends on the statge at which your application processing is at. One of my friends who works as a paralegal "Guessed" that RFE can be issued at assembly stage(CIS assembles all documents like FP results, Bio docs etc etc before sending it to an officer for adjudication) or decision making stage. So if yours is at the adjudication stage, then soon you can write that resignation letter. Otherwise you will have to scratch your hand. (Try to rub it to a wall, like what I am doing :D :D )

My guess is that birth certificate is one of the "core" documents needed. Thus REF would be sent the first time a human (or half-human in the case of NSC) picks up the file. Thus before processing. I doubt that anybody would know how long it would take to process the case.

I found pulling my fingernails out works best. At least the pain distracts me for short periods of time!

Good luck to you!

Yeah, but I personally think that the actual processing does not and should not take long. Because your RD is Nov 2003 (BTW, mine is Sept 2003), I am guessing they should have gotten all the document from the agency checks etc.
Adjudicating officer just needs to go through a check list and make a determination. It is always opening of your file that takes the longest time. So may be we will get a chance to write resignation letters soon.
