Hello :
I talked to an IIO yesterday and was told that they received my RFE response yesterday and it has been sent to an officer for final decision. ( The response to them was sent quite a few weeks back but that\'s another story )
Does any one know how much more time after this is assigned to an officer ?

Thanks

My (2nd) RFE response (emplyment verification letter & last 3 pay-stubs) was mailed on Jan 26 and was delivered to INS Vermont on Jan 27th. They have acknowledged receipt of the same on Jan 31st, and I was told today by an IIO that they need atleast another 4 weeks. What a joke!!!!

I got the same answer when I called INS yesterday. They received my response to RFE (employment letter) on 1/31/01 and entered in its system on 2/2/01. She told me that it will take another 30 to 35 days. She also said she had seen approvel within 21 days and suggest that I keep my fingers crossed. My ND is 9/18/99, FP 8/5/00. I am getting close to the 540 days mark.

Hi Kipps

Could you let me know what format of Birth Certificate did you send in.
When I filed I-485 I attached birth certificate from Indian consulate. Would I also be RFE-ed

Thanks for your info in advance.

I\'ve read on this forum that birth certs attested by Indian Consl usually get RFEed. When I filed, I hadn\'t sent birth certs, that\'s why I got the RFE. Then sent the original birth cert which I obtained from the municipal office in my hometown. However, my wife\'s birth records could not be found in her hometown govt office. So, we got a notarized statement from the office of birth and death that her birth record could not be found. Her mother then wrote an affidavit on legal bond paper (one with the 10 or 20 Rs stamp on top) that she is the nth child and that she was born on xxx date at xxx to Mrs. xxx and Mr. xxx.

My attorney advised that this is the expected procedure for Indians.
