RFE --Please help

I received an RFE for my daughter saying that a copy of the marriage certificate of parents , which has been registered with the proper civil authorities to be submitted. What does it mean? Can I submit an affidavit from our parents/relatives ? I do not have a registered marriage certificate. Guide me . What can I do for this RFE? Thanks in advance. My RD is July 01

Got similar RFE for our son

We received similar RFE for our son; We just responded with our Marriage certificate. We had enclosed our Marriage certificate
in the original package to our Attorney when we filed for 485; maybe she forgot to place a copy in our son's application.
Anyway, regarding your case, as they are looking for a 'Marriage Certificate' (Registered marriage), you may want to take the advice of your attorney. I know they accept Affidavits from relatives if we don't have Birth Certificate - not sure if that works for Marriage certificate.

Thanks for reply. How long does it took for you to get the approval after you responded? I left a message with my lawyer and waiting to hear back.

Awaiting approval after responding to RFE.

RFE response received by NSC on 7/16. Still awaiting approval. Not sure with AVM being down at NSC.
Also had received RFE for wife's medical. None for me.
RD : 6/12/01

AVM details

Hi Stillwaiting2,

Regarding my AVM, it currently says 'FP notice mailed Oct 2001.....' (I am primary applicant and don't have RFE)
For my wife it says the same too (She is dependant and her RFE
response was received by NSC on 7/17/02 as per earlier AVM)
For my son it says I485 application received and it takes 420 days.... (His RFE response was received by NSC also on 7/17/02)
 
Regarding RFE

Can you please tell me if your received RFE only for your son's case? Did you or your spouse get any RFE for your cases. Also, if you have not got any RFE for your case, has your case been approved or is there no change in your status?
I am asking because, I am primary applicant without RFE - still no change in my status after RFE was issues for my dependants.

Actually all the three of us were issued rfes. Mine is for updated employment letter and status verification since last entry. For my wife regarding birth and marriage affidavits and also status since last entry. Finally for my daughter (not son) marriage certificate of parents ans status verification since last entry. These rfes were sent on July 30th according to AVM. But my attorney received on 5th August. Yesterday I handed over all the evidences to my lawyer and he may submit the same on 12th of August. I will keep you updated on the issue . Meanwhile can you get in touch from your end too?

You said that you received RFE directly from INS. Can you please post the "exact words in the letter of RFE" received in case of your son?

What did you submit for rfe? Is it affidavit or certificate? My attorney said affidavit should be fine. But just want to cross check and make sure......

Certificate for Marriage

I think I mentioned earlier that, For Marriage we submitted our
'Marriage Certificate' as we had registered our marriage.
So, if you have a Certificate, it is always better to submit that; but if u dont have a Marriage Certificate, then your only option is to submit an 'Affidavit' - as we had done for my Birth Certificate i.e: we submitted Birth Affidavites from close relatives as I did not have a 'Birth Certificate'. Hope this helps.
