RFE.....Please help!!!

I changed jobs last month based on the 180 day rule. My lousy luck!!! recieved a RFE last week asking for the following details:
1.)Employment letter from sponsoring company specifying my salary and prospects to keep me in the future.
2.) Returns for the last 2 years
3.) Copies of I - 797 and I-171C if available.

Question: Can my new employer send this info? What is form I-797 and I-171C?
My previous employer says that my new employer should handle this. I waited all these years and this is what it has come to......anybody in the same boat?
My details: EB3, India
PD: 04/99
ND: 11/99
FP: 03/01
 Please...Please help!!!

Zeedwag, If the new job is in the same category, it shouldn\'t be a problem. Consult a good attorney and reply to the RFE.

As regulations haven\'t come out the adjudication may be kept pending.

I had been looking at the chat transcripts at the Sheela Murthy\'s web site. For what she says, GC is for a future job so even if your old company gives a letter stating their intent to take you on board once the GC approved might work! Just my 2-cent worth of thoughts!
