RFE Medical

Hi

Received the RFE letter from my lawyer today. One of the items said submit a completed medical examination Form I-693 which indicates the results of a tuberculin skin test administered by a designated civil surgeon

Has anybody received a similiar RFE.

When I called a doctor the nurse over there said I will have to perform all the test again since the test are more than 1 year old.

Do I need to perform the whole medical test again or just the tuberculin skin test would do. ?

Your help will be appreciated

Thanks

We had a similar RFE for my son; we went to the same civil surgeon. He did a chest X-Ray and checked the appropriate boxes and signed on the old form INS sent back to you along with the RFE. He didn't even charge me second time.

Earlier this test was required only for people over 13, now it's required for everyone above 2 yr old.

Our initial medical was done in Sept 2001 and the secodn time was three weeks ago. The 1 year thing your nurse told I think is a buch of bull, they want to make money. If the INS had sent the old form back you, you only need to the TB test again.

This is no legal advise.

Thanks very much for your response.

I am not aware if INS has sent the old medical forms. I need to ask my lawyer. He just faxed me the RFE Letter.

Hey Guys,

If there is RFE for medical, do we have to go to the same doctor we went first time or we can go to any doctor in any place(out of NSC juridiction).

Thanks
Mala

As far as I know, you can go to any INS authorized Civil Surgeon.
However I recommend use a doctor in the same city atleast, if not the same doctor whenever possible. But if you have moved out of your old place, you have no choice than to find a new doctor in your area.

Contact your Lawyer for advise.

I had done my medical test in Detroit and now have to do the TB Skin test as per the RFE from another doctor since I have moved to Seattle now.

I had done the TB Test previously through X-Ray god knows why RFE for TB Skin test was issued? But if thats what INS wants can't help.

I don't know if the new doctor would sign on the original medical forms received from INS, which were signed by Detroit doctor. But would give it a shot. Otherwise would just perform the TB Skin test on a new I-693 and send it back.

nairkk thanks once again for your response and letting me know that INS sends the original forms back when a medical RFE is issued. My lawyer didn't even bother to tell me that, only after asking him did he inform me.

No problem.

Actually one of my friends did his medical in one city (east coast) and the RFE medical in another city(mid west) using the old forms sent from INS. The new doctor did sign on the old I-693 form without any questions; he only had to take one shot.

Good Luck
