It is always better to speak/state the facts, as they are. The actual salary figure should not matter, as long as it is above the prevailing wage-rate for the job in that particular geographical area. I think you will not have any problem with 64k....

Check with your attorney, for software engineer in Newyork is around 70k, I don\'t about NJ, so better verify before you
send out your reply. But the employment letter is for the future job, so your current salary may not matter, you can write
that after GC, you will be hired as software engineer and the salary will not be less than $xxxx.xx. But whatever you
specified in your I-140 and labor petitions, would have been higher than the prevailing wage for the post at NJ otherwise
you would have got a RFE at that stage. Just double check.

Is the RFE asking for your salary? You did not mention what the RFE is about. At the 485 stage, your current salary should be (Please check with your lawyer) greater than the salary listed on your labour certification application. If not then you can get into trouble irrespective of what the prevaling wage is. Some say that it should not be significantly greater. However, I think all will agree that it should be equal to or greater than what is listed on your labour cert app.

The RFE asks about my salary, works perform, and date employment
started.
My current salary is the same as when I filed Labor and i-140.
