RFE for employment letter, but was laid off

My friend got RFE for employment letter. He got laid off a year ago and couldn't find a similar job since then. Now he is working on nonrelated job. How can he do?
Does anyone have ideas?
 
Tough call...

If he is not able to produce a letter of employment in same/similar job classification as LC then he is in trouble.

If he can show he was looking for a same type of job all the time, will it be strong enough?

It won't help. He should have a similar job. A risky option is to get an offer and show that the new employer will hire him.
Easier said than done but here is his way out : Get a similar job ASAP and get a EVL before the response date indicated on RFE.
