RFE delayed for a few days, will it cause denial of AOS?

Does anyone here knows if the delayed submission of RFE will cause a denial of I-485 or AOS? It says in my RFE that is should be submitted "within 87 days", but I encountered some problems and can't make it on time . When will 87 days start: on the ND, RD or RFE heading date? And is it 87 calendar days or 87 weekdays?

The days start counting from the ND of RFE. These are calendar days and not weekdays. Do not delay the response. Your 485 may get rejected.

Just a thought: what you can do is that send the RFE response and in the response mention that brief to follow. Then send rest of the papers later on. I know that in the case of denial notice people do this but not sure if you can do this for RFE also. Consult a good immigration attorney for this.
