I received a letter from the lawyer today.

RE: RFE Compliance
I-485
Dear Client:

Please be advised that we received a RFE on your case. This request is very specific and must be complied with within the time given or your case is in jeopardy of being denied. This is now a priority and your case will take precedence with this firm to ensure that the request is fulfilled.
This firm is prepared to comply with the RFE in a timely manner with your assistance. However, an RFE is outside the scope of a standard filing such as yours and we need to dedicate ourselves to your matter until it is fulfilled. Therefor, we need to assess a charge of $1000, for RFE compliance. We have enclosed an invoice for this extra service. Please remit the payments along with the documents requested on the request.

What is this? An enforcement? Only the lawyers have the right to respond RFE? In this case, I pay whatever they ask for, or I deny my GC.
Why USCIS send the RFE letter to the lawyer`s office and not to my home address?

Any coments on this matter is really apreciated.

What a load of crap. Get the RFE letter from the lawyer and see what is required. Many times it's just standard documentation and all you need to do is send it in with a copy of the RFE letter.

The notice went to the lawyer because that's where the I-485 said to send any information.


BTW....you personally will end up doing all of the leg work for the RFE and all the lawyer will do is look at it, stick it in an envelope and send it off. Only pay the money if you feel you need this lawyer to get you through to the bitter end.
