Hey Guys,
I've been logging on to this web-site off-and-on but never actively participated- I've decided- No more Silent Observer, here I am writing for the first time. My wife received an RFE that supposedly asks for an Affidavit of Support- I-134. I say supposedly as my lawyer has the RFE and said he was going to send it, but just sent me an invoice for putting together the response to the RFE. I have two questions:

1. Did any of you receive a similar RFE (asking for an I-134)?
2. Can I suggest to my lawyer that rather than paying his hefty fees to file a two-page form, I would do it myself- is that acceptable to USCIS?

Your suggestions are appreciated, thanks in advance,

Weird ... I thought that USCIS no longer requires form 134 for dependent applicants -- am pretty sure about this.

Make sure your lawyer sends a copy of the RFE to you - don't pay without seeing the RFE and what it is for.
If the RFE came because the lawyer screwed up something ( like he forgot to send some document which you definitely sent him ), then you should not have to pay for this.

Affidavit of support is no longer needed ... so my advice is to look at the RFE before deciding anything .... any decent attorney would fax this over to you asap.

Hey max2k1,
thanks for responding to my question- guess I'll take your advice and ask my lawyer to fax me a copy of the RFE. If USCIS no longer requires I-134s, I am intrigued as to why they are asking for one. Maybe my lawyer should have sent one while filing my 485. Its just that I'd hate to strain my relationship with the lawyer, but I feel enraged when I think about how much he wants and how much he's already charged over the years.

Thanks,
