Reverting from PhD to MS. Will I get my OPT

I had applied direclty for a PhD program after my bachelors in India, with the option to collect my Masters on the way. Though I am done with my Master course work, I have not yet collected my Masters degree. I want to collect my Masters in the Spring 2007 and quit the PhD program. Will I still be able to apply
for a 1 year OPT before I move on an H1. Is there a document that I can
read about such rules?
 
You should be able to do this, no problem. Talk to somebody in your international office to make sure, but my husband did it and got his OPT just fine.

I got my OPT after masters degree even though my I-20 and admission were for PhD program. You should be fine. Just visit the International Student Office in your school and they should be able to update the information.
 
Speak to your international advisor right away. They will issue a new I-20 for you that shows the corrected date for graduation.
